Little League All Star Team

Every year Warwick Little League competes in the Little League World Series Tournament. If you're wondering what it's all about, this post should provide some clarity.

Eligibility:
All Star Teams are formed from the current Warwick Little League in-house player pool, which is separate from the Travel Baseball teams. All in-house players are eligible and encouraged to tryout. Each player will be evaluated fairly and chosen for the appropriate team. Our goal is to maximize Warwick's chances of winning by selecting the most skilled kids for the teams. Three teams are created, 12u, 11u & 10u. Children between the ages of 8-12 this season are eligible to try out.

Players to be selected to tournament teams must have participated as an eligible player in eight (8) regular-season games by the beginning of the World Series Tournament, with the exception of the school based players. Players qualifying under the school exception, must participate in 60% of the games available to them.

After tryouts and your child has been selected for a team, you will be asked to submit the required documents.

Tryouts:
Tryouts are scheduled for May 17th at 6pm & May 20th at 6pm. To tryout, you must register on the website beforehand. Registration will open on April 24th and will remain open until May 16th.

It's encouraged that your child attend both tryouts, but only one is required.

Coaches:
In order to be an All Star Team coach, you must be currently volunteering as an in-house coach. When registering your child for tryouts on the website, you must also sign up to coach. To qualify, you must complete a LL volunteer form (provided during registration) and have valid clearances. The background check you completed this season is valid for two years and will count towards this. No need to complete a separate one.

Tournament:
The Warwick All Star Teams will start practicing the first week of June.

The first round of the tournament, known as Districts (we are PA District 30), will begin on June 23rd and will continue until July 12th. It's important that your child is available during those dates. The tournament is divided into two parts: pool play, and then a double elimination tournament. Teams are guaranteed 5 games. More if they win.

If the team wins Districts, they will advance to Sectionals (we are PA Section 6). Sectionals immediately follow Districts and run 7/13 - 7/19. States (7/20-8/3) follow Sectionals, and Regionals (8/5-8/11) follow States. Only the 12u & 11u teams can advance past States. If your team wins Regionals (PA is in the Mid-Atlantic Region), they will move on to Williamsport, PA, to play in the Little League World Series on ESPN! (8/16-8/27)
