Warwick Bulldogs 7U Travel Baseball Program
Program Overview
The Warwick Bulldogs 7U Travel Program is part of the Suburban Travel Baseball League (STBL) and is designed to introduce young players to travel baseball in a low-pressure, instructional environment.
Unlike older travel divisions, the 7U level is not intended to be highly competitive. The primary goal is to help players grow their skills, develop confidence, and gain additional experience while still enjoying the game.
This program serves as a bridge between in-house baseball and traditional travel baseball, allowing players to continue developing while keeping the experience positive and fun.
Program Goals
The 7U Travel Program focuses on helping players:
Build strong baseball fundamentals
Improve game awareness and baseball IQ
Gain additional practice and game experience
Develop confidence on the field
Learn teamwork and sportsmanship
At this age, the emphasis is on instruction, development, and enjoyment of the game.
Game Format
Games at the 7U level are structured to maximize learning and player development.
Key features include:
Coach Pitch format, with the opportunity for kid pitch in the final innings if players show interest and readiness
High school umpires
Up to two coaches allowed on the field to assist with instruction and positioning
Batting format: 3 outs or one time through the lineup (whichever comes first)
Equal playing time for all players
Games are coordinated between participating teams and are typically scheduled on Fridays and/or Sundays.
Practices & Time Commitment
Families considering the 7U program should be aware that it involves more baseball than the traditional in-house program.
Players will participate in:
This schedule allows players to practice consistently and gain valuable game experience throughout the season.
In-House Participation
All 7U travel players will also participate in the Warwick Bulldogs In-House Machine Pitch Division.
This structure helps players:
Continue developing through additional game opportunities
Play with friends in the local in-house program
Avoid feeling like they are “going backwards” by returning to Quickball
The combination of travel and in-house participation helps maximize development at this age.
